One of the questions we get most often about our steak selection is, “What is Picanha?” (And in case you’re wondering how to pronounce it, it’s pick-AHN-yah.) Customers who do know them love them, and are excited that we carry them. But if you’re curious about this particular cut, here’s a quick primer for you.
Picanha is a cut of beef that comes from the rump cap muscle (see the diagram below). PIcanha steaks are really popular in Brazil, where they’re often bent in a horseshoe shape, skewered, and cooked over an open fire at the country’s churrascarias.
